Parviz Hashimli Began Hunger Strike
Under arrest in the DHS detention facility, the journalist and human rights advocate Parviz Hashimli started a hunger strike today, the lawyer Elchin Sadigov told Turan.
According to him, the reason for the hunger strike was that his client was not allowed to meet his family and he is kept in conditions that are degrading to human dignity.
The journalist requires his transfer to the Baku Detention Facility and conditions for the protection of his rights.
The lawyer said his client is in poor conditions. "In the cell there is no fresh air. Light is on day and night, but despite that the lighting is very poor. It's actually a dehumanizing torture. In this way they want to psychologically break Hashimli down and suppress his desire to live. He refuses to eat for fear that he could be poisoned," said the lawyer.
He recalled that last week his client notified the prison leadership of his intention to go on hunger strike.
At the DHS Center for Public Relations they reported that they have no information about the hunger strike of the journalist.
Recall that Hashimli was arrested on charges of smuggling weapons. However people close to the journalist believe that the true reason for the arrest was his refusal to publish an article compromising the PFPA leader Ali Kerimli. -03B04-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
