Prosecutor General Office for Anti-Corruption reported for 2013
In 2013, the Office for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office reviewed 1,860 citizens' appeals and investigated 230 of a criminal nature. This was announced at the meeting held on January 17 in the Prosecutor's office on the results of the year.
As the head of the Anti-Corruption Office Kamran Aliyev said, in 69 % of the 230 cases, criminal proceedings were initiated. On other materials pre-emptive actions were taken.
During operational activities 18 criminal cases were filed against those caught red-handed, including 7 corruption offenses.
In 2013 the investigation was completed on 201 criminal proceedings against 367 persons and referred to the courts.
Two cases involved giving bribes, 16 cases involved receiving bribes, 36 - abuse of power, 4 - abuse of office, 65 - embezzlement and misappropriation, 17 - false entrepreneurship, 51 - fraud, etc.
As the "progress" of the fight against corruption , the Prosecutor referred to the report " Global Corruption Barometer 2013 " by Transparency International. It says that Azerbaijan rose by 12 points, compared with 2012. -16D-

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."

On Tuesday, the General Prosecutor's Office announced the initiation of new criminal cases against agricultural product exporters who allegedly concealed their earnings abroad. Specifically, the Sumgayit City Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case under Articles 208.2.1 and 208.2.2 (failure to return foreign currency to the country in large amounts by prior agreement of a group of individuals) and Article 308.2 (abuse of office causing serious consequences) against officials of the company "SOİL BOONS" LLC – Jahangir Aliyev, Elyar Gadzhiev, Mehman Mirzamedev, Saleh Gabilov, and Aly Aliyev.
