Said Nuri was questioned in the case of NGOs

The former political prisoner, now a citizen of the United States, Said Nuri gave testimony on September 8 at the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General, his representative Yalchin Imanov said.

According to him, Nuri was questioned as a witness in a criminal case against a large group of NGOs. The lawyer declined to disclose details of the interrogation, citing his commitment not to disclose it. What is Nuri’s involvement in the present case is unclear.

In turn, Nuri told Turan he had experienced stress in connection with the event that affected his health. He said that in September he was scheduled for surgery to remove the gallbladder.

Recall that the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Security Ministry banned Said Nuri’s departure from Azerbaijan, refusing to accept his American citizenship.

Several years ago, Said Nuri was an opposition activist - deputy chairman of the youth movement Yeni Fikir.

The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office said that Said Nuri did not apply to the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan to withdraw from Azerbaijani citizenship, so his foreign citizenship is not recognized. -16d04-
