Baku/07.12.21/Turan: Political prisoner Saleh Rustamov who has been on hunger strike for 32 days is suffering from severe dizziness and a partial loss of vision, his lawyer Bahruz Bayramov told the Turan News Agency on Tuesday.

According to him, doctors took blood samples from Rustamov for analysis, and today he will also have an ultrasound examination.

Doctors have warned of a critical point and tomorrow they should decide on force-feeding. However, Rustamov is categorically against it. During the hunger strike, he lost 17 kg, from 69kg to 52kg, his lawyer said.

Bairamov regretted that no response has yet been received to his appeal to the Supreme Court Plenum to review the case.

It is also unclear when the appeal submitted the day before to the Nizami district court to release Rustamov from the remaining prison sentence for health reasons will be considered.

* Supporter of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan and veteran of the first Karabakh war Saleh Rustamov was arrested in May 2018 and sentenced to 7 years 3 months of imprisonment in a trumped-up case of "illegal financing of the PPFA".

He was declared a political prisoner by human rights activists. On November 6, he began an open-ended hunger strike demanding his release.

Saleh Rustamov is a veteran of the Karabakh war. In 1992, as head of the executive power of the Gadabay region, he was one of the leaders of the Bashkend operation to secure border villages in the region. -06B06-
