Seasonal Monitoring of Bird Flu
In connection with the return of migratory birds from the south to the north, the State Veterinary Service of Azerbaijan (SVS) conducts monitoring for detection of avian influenza. This is stated in the SVS message.
The monitoring also involves experts of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environment. It covers temporary stay places of migratory birds on their migration way to national parks and reserves, coastal areas on the Absheron peninsula, Shabran, Agjabedi, Lankaran and Salyan regions of Azerbaijan.
In addition, samples are taken for analysis in poultry and private households.
Recall that the pandemic Bird Flu was registered in 2006. Then in Azerbaijan a ban was declared on the hunting of birds for many years and several people died from the disease. Poultry companies suffered heavy losses due to the sharp reduction in the consumption of poultry meat. -05D06--
