Split in the NGO Coalition on EITI
Some members of the NGO Coalition for Transparency Initiative in the mining industry (EITI) Board accused the coalition of dishonest conduct of elections of members of the Multilateral Group. The statement received by Turan on behalf of the coalition member Alimammad Nuriyev, argues that elections are not attended by 5 members of the Board and that the election of six members of the Multilateral Group was the result of a "deal".
Nuriyev said that the elections did not reflect the will of the coalition, and the "chosen six" reflects the interests of political forces. Therefore, the Multilateral Group was asked to find a "compromise" - to elect three members of the coalition in the Multilateral from six members of the Council, and three representatives from the five other members of the Council. But "six" has not accepted the proposal, and insists on the participation of only the members elected by it.
Therefore, it was proposed to present the dispute to the general opinion of the Coalition. Participating at the meeting of members of the Board Gubad Ibadoglu, Ogtay Gyulalyev, Ilgar Huseynli, Nasimi Mammadov and Azer Rasulov left the discussion.
Head of the Multilateral Group Shahmar Movsumov appointed on February 7 a meeting with all members of the Coalition. -06D-
