Team of Iranian Cargo Ship Poisoned, Three Died
Baku / 10/19/18 / Turan: The Iranian cargo ship Nazmehr on October 18 asked for help, 21 miles from Pirallahi Island. Despite the bad weather conditions, the Coast Guard patrol ship of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan was sent to help Iranian sailors, the department said.
By 00:30, the coast guard ship reached the Iranian dry-cargo ship and took on the seriously poisoned Iranian sailors, and then brought them to shore.
According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 12 crew members were poisoned. Three people died on the way to the shore. Another seven people were hospitalized in the Toxicological Center of Baku.
The captain refused to leave the ship and he received medical assistance on the spot. The condition of the other crew members remaining on the ship became satisfactory after providing them with medical assistance.
The causes of the poisoning have not yet been established. The reason is assumed to be chemicals used in the transportation of wheat.

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
