The charge of tax evasion in the case of Avaz Zenynally will be removed
Baku Administrative Economic Court of N 2 rejected today a request of the Tax Audit Department of the Ministry of Taxes on discontinue proceedings against the chief editor of "Khural" newspaper Avaz Zeynalli, because the criminal charges of tax evasion, is considered in Baku Serious Crimes Court.
The Tax Audit Department has accused the journalist of tax evasion in the amount of 7251 manat. Zeynalli, in his turn, filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Taxes.
The Judge Miminat Hajibeyova decided that the act of a tax audit in respect of “Khural” newspaper from 22.02.2012 year cannot be a ground for criminal prosecution. According to the decision of the judge, the case will be considered in the administrative proceedings.
According to Turan's lawyer Elchin Sadigov, now , during the main criminal case against Zeynalli in Baku Serious Crimes Court, the charge of “tax evasion” under the Criminal Code will be removed.
The journalist is also accused of taking bribes and not fulfillment of a judgment. He has been under arrest since last autumn on charges of extortion through threats.—06D-
