The journalist declared physical pressure on her at the police station
Baku/10.04.18/Turan: Journalist-freelancer Aytaj Ahmedova underwent physical pressure at the police station. She announced this on the social network Facebook. According to her, she was detained during the preparation of a report from the protest of a group of residents of the village of Zabrat. A video report on the social discontent of the residents of Zabrat is posted on the Meydan TV website. https://www.facebook.com/aytac.ehmedova1?fref=mentions
The women who answered the questions from the journalist, residents of Nariman Narimanov Street in the village of Zabrat, demanded that the state repair the houses "going underground". Women, holding hands, blocked the road to draw the attention of the state to their plight. One of the protesters said that in the Emergency Situations Ministry they were told about the emergency condition of their houses in need of repair.
"The police demanded that I immediately stop filming. Despite the fact that I introduced myself as a journalist, they forced me into a car and drove me to the 15th division of the Sabunchu district police department," she said. According to Ahmedova, a civilian employee named Gabil slapped her in the face in the office"s corridor.
"He spoke to me in a threatening and degrading tone. When he hit me, I screamed, and they took me to the head, Ismail Mamedov. He spoke to me normally," said Ahmedova.
Ahmedova wrote an explanatory note, noting in her everything that happened to her, despite the fact that she was advised not to record the fact of violence by the police officer. She also indicated that she was forced to delete entries made during the promotion. The journalist intends to file a complaint with the relevant authorities about her being abused at the police station.
According to the expert in the field of media law, Alesker Mammadov, it is a criminal act to strike a journalist with a police officer.
According to Mammadli, the Ministry of Internal Affairs should exclude this employee from the authorities and start a criminal case against him. It should also be removed from the post of head of the department. So far, the 15th police station and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have not responded to the statement of Ahmedov.
In the duty unit of the 15th police station, they told Turan that they were not aware of yesterday"s event. A spokesman for the Interior Ministry Orkhan Mansurzade promised Turan to make a statement about the incident with A.Ahmedova, but did not say when the statement would be made. -0-
