Lawyer Elchin Sadigov is not allowed to meet with his client Natig Jafarli, the executive secretary of the "Republican Alternative" Movement (REAL), Turan was told by Sadigov’s lawyer. Even on 15 August the lawyer sent to the General Prosecutor's Office the original of the order to protect Jafarli and other necessary documents. However, the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes Prosecutor's Office does not allow him to meet with the prisoner. Sadigov called the prosecutor's office acts illegal and grossly violating the right to protect Jafarli. "The investigator said that my documents allegedly did not reach the prosecutor's office, although I have a receipt on delivery to the prosecutor's office," Sadigov said.
The Prison Service said Turan that there are no obstacles for lawyers having relevant documents for visiting detainees in detention centers and penal institutions. Turan failed to get comment at the General Prosecutor's Office failed. Natig Jafarli was arrested late in the evening on 13 August. On the night of the 14th Nasimi District Court arrested Jafarli for four months on charges of tax evasion and illegal entrepreneurship. Jafarli rejected the accusations. On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
