The lawyer was not allowed into the courtroom
Baku/28.01.21/Turan: Today a lawyer Neymat Karimli was not allowed to attend the court hearing in the case of his client. He is a defender at the trial in the Binagadi District Court in the case of the Musavat party activist Mustafa Hajibeyli, Karimli told Turan . The case concerns physical pressure on Hajibeyli in February last year in front of the CEC building.
The Binagadi Prosecutor's Office refused to investigate the illegal actions of the police who beat Hajibeyli. Therefore, the defense appealed against the actions of the prosecutor's office in court.
“Today, before the beginning of the session, a judge Elchin Agayev conveyed through his secretary that the trial will be closed and a lawyer cannot participate. I objected and suggested that the judge announce it himself. However, the judge reiterated that if I do not leave the hall, he will not come to the trial,” Karimli said.
Not allowing a lawyer to enter the courtroom with a warrant violates the right to a fair trial, Karimli said. Thus, the trial was held without the participation of a lawyer, and his decision will be announced tomorrow. It was not possible to obtain comments from the Binanagdi Court. — 06D-
