The protest of the arrested journalist’s wife
Baku/11.01.21/Turan: Sevinj Sadigova, the wife of Afgan Sadigov, the head of Azel.TV Afgan Sadigov, who is on a hunger strike in prison, today held a protest action. She stood with a poster "Afghan Sadigov is dying!" in Heydar Aliyev Avenue, one of the main roads in Baku.
The police took Sadigova off the road and took her away in their car. Prior to that, S. Sadygova told reporters who filmed her action: “I once again appeal to the country's leadership. Journalist Afgan Sadigov, who has been on hunger strike for 68 days, is dying. The trial is scheduled for January 21. Until that time, he will not survive. He cannot stand, often faints, and has problems with the lungs and kidneys. He has lost 30 kilograms and may fall into a coma at any moment,” she said.
* Head of Azel. TV Afgan Sadigov was arrested on charges of extortion through threats in May this year. On November 3, the court sentenced him to seven years in prison. Since November 4, he went on a hunger strike in protest, considering the sentence unfair.
Local human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. —06B03-
