Wave of Public Unrest in Absheron
Social protest is going to start in the settlement Turkan, 25 km. to the southeast of Baku. According to information from elders, about 100 residents are going to march to the presidential administration in the coming days.
The reason for the protest is the capture of the lands of local people by senior officials. According to the same sources, Ali Nagiyev, the deputy chair of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Prosecutor General Office, carries out land grabbing. Turan failed to get comments from the Anti-Corruption Department, and Turan agency is ready to reflect the views of Nagiyev.
Two years ago, residents of the Turkan settlement held a protest against the seizure of the coast. In particular, then they destroyed the stone wall built along the coast. –06D--
