WHO and Ministry of Health Advice for International Travel and Trade in Relation to Outbreak of Pneumonia Caused by New Coronavirus in China

Baku/16.01.20/Turan: In connection with the outbreak of pneumonia in China from the new coronavirus, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan have published recommendations on foreign travel and trade.

 It is recommended for citizens to reduce the risk of acute respiratory disease, the nature of which is not yet clear, by:

- avoiding close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections;

- frequent hand-washing, especially after direct contact with ill people or their environment;

- avoiding close contact with live or dead farm or wild animals;

- travelers with symptoms of acute respiratory infection should practice cough etiquette (maintain distance, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and wash hands).

On December 31, authorities in the Chinese city of Wuhan (the administrative center of Hubei Province) reported the spread of an unknown type of pneumonia. At that time, 27 cases of the disease were recorded. Some of them are connected with the city seafood market, which is now closed.

By January 11, one person died of pneumonia of a new type. In total, the number of cases in the Chinese city rose to 41, and seven people are in serious condition. Cases of the disease are recorded in other places in East and South Asia.

Currently, under the supervision of doctors are 739 people who had close contact with the sick. — 06D-
