Baku/24.06.21/Turan: Today is the 83rd anniversary of the birth of the leader of the National Democratic Movement of Azerbaijan Abulfaz Elchibey. To honor Elchibey's memory, his supporters, leaders of opposition parties, and members of the public visited his grave on the Alley of Honor. Elchibey was one of the founders and leader of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan.
Speaking at his grave, the head of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Ali Karimli said that the ideas of Muhammad Emin Rasulzade, Abulfaz Elchibey and Ataturk would ultimately win in Azerbaijan.
He called on the Azerbaijani authorities not to oppose Elchibey's ideas. “Abulfaz Elchibey, by his own example, created a school of selfless love for the Motherland in Azerbaijan,” Karimli said. According to him, Elchibey ensured the creation of the PFPA on a healthy basis.
“That is why the PFPA was able to withstand repressions for decades, did not allow the Turkmenization of Azerbaijan. Elchibey also sowed the seeds of democracy in Azerbaijan, no one can remove them. All this strengthens the hope for the future of Azerbaijan,” Karimli said.
He stated that Elchibey's followers would liberate the territories of Azerbaijan to the end and build a democratic society. The head of the Musavat party, Arif Hajili, called Elchibey a symbol of unity of the 50 million Azerbaijani people, their independence and freedom.
The head of the Center for National Strategic Thought, Isa Gambar, called the attacks of the current authorities on Elchibey unacceptable.
“The fight against Elchibey is being waged because he is the favorite of every Azerbaijani, of the entire Turkic world. For 28 years, the authorities have been trying to discredit the path of Rasulzade-Elchibey, erase them from the memory of the people, but they have not achieved anything. There is no alternative to this path,” Gambar said. –03D06
