Azerbaijan to increase gas supplies to Europe by 40 percent in 2022
Baku/22.09.22/Turan: This year, Azerbaijan will increase natural gas supplies by 40 percent, bringing the volume of exports to 11.5 billion cubic meters, the country's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at an international energy conference in Romania.
“This is a confirmation of the operation of the Southern Gas Corridor at maximum capacity, continuity and stability,” Shahbazov stressed.
According to the minister, Azerbaijan is doing everything possible to "ensure the transportation of natural gas to the European energy market in large volumes, given the sensitivity of energy security in Europe."
The Minister of Energy noted the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor within 5 years as the next step in ensuring energy security. It was stated that in order to double the export of natural gas to 20 billion cubic meters, it is necessary to invest in increasing the capacity and production of pipelines, conclude contracts and take technical measures.
"We believe that, thanks to the joint political will, Azerbaijani natural gas will reach Europe at a decisive moment for energy security - in 2027," Shahbazov said. In the long term, Azerbaijan will become a source of renewable energy and hydrogen for Europe.
In this regard, he stressed the importance of the Georgian-Romanian Black Sea "green corridor" project for the transfer of wind energy from the Caspian Sea basin. --06B--
