The finals will include performers from Moldova, Lithuania, Iceland, Estonia, Belarus, Denmark, Russia, Belgium, Ukraine and the Netherlands. Yesterday, the first semi-final had participants from Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Ireland, Cyprus and Serbia.
Azerbaijan's representative is Farid Mammadov, who will perform in the second semi-final, held on May 16. The finale will be May 18.
The finale will have 10 performances from the winners of each of the two semi-finals. Also performing are representatives of the "Big Five," i.e. United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and Germany and by a representative of the host country, Sweden.
Organizers of this competition have decided to keep the event modest, without special effects and to keep within the budget of 20 million dollars.
For various reasons, including financial ones, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Monaco, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey and the Czech Republic have refused to attend the contest. -16/06D-

Each year, on January 13, Lithuania commemorates the Day of Freedom Defenders, honoring the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence in 1991. This pivotal moment in Lithuanian history marked the triumph of an unyielding will for freedom over Soviet oppression. Fourteen lives were lost, hundreds were injured, but the desire for liberty remained unshaken. The Day of Freedom Defenders is a solemn occasion for Lithuanians to reflect on their past and the true cost of freedom.
