We Did Not Ban Leviathan - Ministry of Culture
The Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture has not imposed a ban on the display of the Russian film Leviathan. This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan in connection with the publications on this topic in the media.
Recall that the film was planned in the Park Cinema. However, the film distributor withdrew it from being shown in Azerbaijan, reported BBC.
Recall that the film tells a story of the struggle of a resident of a provincial town with a corrupt mayor.
The social drama by Andrei Zvyagintsev reveals a whole layer of problems of modern Russian reality: corruption and arbitrariness of officials, because of which the common people cannot live normally.
The tape has awarded a prize at the Cannes Film Festival for best screenplay and the American award Golden Globe in the nomination Best Foreign Language Film 2014. The picture is also nominated for Oscar.
In Russia, the film was released from February 5 and then angered the Kremlin. As a result, the film shows in many cities and regions of Russia have been blocked. Removing the same movie from showing in Azerbaijan reminded cancellation of the rocker Andrei Makarevich’s concert in Baku last fall, given the fact that he also irritated the Kremlin. -02D-
