The rhetoric of the authorities and stimulated the emergence of new parties
Baku/28.10.21/Turan: New parties are being created in Azerbaijan. In recent days, two more parties have appeared -the Party of Democracy and Welfare of Azerbaijan and the Party of Democratic Changes. The energy expenditure on the formation of political parties in an apolitical society is questionable.
By the way, the process of registration of parties is underway. Two other parties registered last week, the Law and Justice Party (Haqq və Ədalət), led by ex-Minister of Health and former political prisoner Ali Insanov, which positions itself as opposition, and the Renaissance Party (Yüksəliş). Solving the problem of registering without any delay for a party led by a man who has been under pressure from the authorities for many years raises many questions.
What is happening in the political community of the country? Is work being carried out that will justify the forecasts of a number of analysts that the proportional electoral system will be restored in the near future and that new parliamentary elections will be held under this system?
The chairman of the Public Union for the Study of Democracy Mirali Huseynov answered these and other questions in the program "Difficult Question".
According to the expert, today we are witnessing the complication of the country's political system, which has recently been joined by new political forces. However, the emergence of new institutions in an undemocratic system, in which political parties do not take any part in decision-making, the emergence of new institutions, naturally, cannot but arouse interest and raise questions. Although, in principle, the emergence of new parties is a positive phenomenon.
“Although there are about 60 parties in the country, including 55 officially registered. However, with the exception of 2-3 organizations, they do not take an active part in the political life of the country, and even show a reaction to the processes taking place in the country,” he stressed.
According to Huseynov, the emergence of new political forces on the political horizon of Azerbaijan is a natural phenomenon, since “everything flows, everything changes” - processes are constantly going on in society, a qualitative change is taking place. And, of course, there are reasons for new forces to enter the arena. But it is difficult to say whether these new parties will be able to influence the political situation in the country.
The expert noted that the leaders and founders of these parties are, as a rule, those people who were previously members of other organizations, but for one reason or another, they could not declare themselves in them. “Perhaps the discrepancy between their vision of existing problems and the leadership of the parties was the reason for the establishment of new political organizations by them,” he said.
Huseynov also did not rule out that the emergence of new parties is because the authorities, especially in recent years, are increasingly talking about political reforms.
“What they mean by this is unknown, but it is possible that it was this rhetoric that stimulated the emergence of new parties,” the expert suggested. –0—
