"Anglo-Asian Mining PLC" has issued statement on "illegal mining in Karabakh"
Baku/20.12.22/Turan: "Anglo Asian Mining PLC" has written to senior representatives of a number of international organisations and governments, including the United Nations, the US State Department, the UK Foreign Office and the European Union, about the activities of "Anglo Asian Mining PLC" and the rights to exploit minerals currently being exploited by others. In this connection, the company has issued a press statement.
"The company is appealing to these authorities for support to restore its legitimate business rights and ensure safe physical access for "Anglo Asian" employees to the Kyzylbulag and Demirli mines and adjacent exploration areas in Karabakh," the statement noted.
Earlier in 2006," Anglo Asian" sent similar letters of confirmation to each of these government agencies to formally confirm its priority ownership. In addition to its main assets in Azerbaijan, "Anglo Asian Mining PLC" also owns two contract areas in Karabakh, which include the Kyzlbulag copper-gold mine and the Demirli copper-molybdenum mine. These contract areas are within the region controlled by Russian peacekeeping forces, but the company believes that illegal mining by Armenian companies has taken place and continues in these concession areas.
Recall that "Anglo Asian Mining PLC" is a Central Asian gold, copper and silver producer with an extensive portfolio of production and exploration assets in Azerbaijan. The company produced 64,610 gold equivalent ounces in the year ended 31 December 2021. It conducted a private placement in December 2021, acquiring a 19.8% stake in "Libero Copper & Gold Corporation".
Note that "Libero Copper & Gold Corporation" is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange in Canada and owns or has the ability to acquire several copper deposits in the Americas, including Mocoa in Colombia, one of the world's largest undeveloped copper-molybdenum resources.
On July 5, 2022, the Azerbaijan Parliament ratified amendments to the company's "Production Sharing Agreement" that granted it the right to own three additional concessions totalling 882 square kilometres, including the Garadagh copper and porphyry deposit with a Soviet classified resource of over 300,000 tonnes of copper. -08D-
