Azerbaijan Established Incentives to Turkish Carriers
To create favorable conditions for the transport of trucks from Turkey to Kazakhstan, across the Caspian Sea, on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, CJSC Azerbaijan Maritime Shipping decreased by 20 percent tariffs on the sea route. This was said in a statement released by the shipping company on 1 December.
Under the new tariff, the cost of transportation by the ferry Baku-Aktau of trucks with a standard trailer (TIR length of 16.5 m) will be $ 1,200. The ticket in both directions will be $ 2,100.
In connection with the Russian economic sanctions against Turkey, there are problems with road transport for Turkish companies through Russia. Even before the formal entry of sanctions into force, a lot of Turkish trucks gathered on the Georgian-Russian border. During his visit to Baku on November 25 the Foreign Minister of Turkey Mehmet Cavusoglu asked to skip the Turkish freight to Central Asia via Azerbaijan.
For Azerbaijan, it is also cost-effective due to the loading of the transport corridor TRACECA. -06D--
