Chevron resumes oil pumping via BTC six years later
Tengizchevroil company, which is operated by US Chevron and develops oil and gas field Tengiz in Kazakhstan’s Atyrau district, is going to resume oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline suspended several years ago, reported Kazmortransflot JSC.
The company has informed that Tengizchevroil is going to use Aktau TK tanker, which is owned by Kazmortransflot, to transport Tengiz oil from Aktau port to Baku port, from which oil will be pumped into the BTC oil pipeline.
Kazmortransflot reported that the volume of Tengizchevroil’s shipment via Aktau port could increase up to 400,000 tons a month as soon as Tengiz oil deliveries via BTC are resumed. Tengizchevroil transports its oil via different routes, including the Tengiz-Novorossiysk oil pipeline, Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), railway to Odessa, Taman and Aktau and further to Batumi and Kulevi.
Kazmortransflot reported that resumption of oil deliveries by Tengizchevroil to BTC will significantly increase the volume of oil transportation by Kazmortransflot’s tankers and oil transshipment via Aktau port. KazTransOil JSC oil terminal in Aktau port will be mainly used to transship the planned volume.
During 6 months, 2013 Tengizchevroil extracted 13.6 million tons of crude oil (108.7 million barrels). The company has delivered its oil to BTC for a short period of time and suspended them in 2008, because it failed to find an agreement on the conditions of shipment.
Tengizchevroil was established on April 6, 1993 on the basis of the agreement between Kazakhstan Republic and US Chevron company. At present Tengizchevroil partners are Chevron -50% KazMunaiGas JSC - 20%, ExxonMobilKazakhstan – 25% and LukArco – 5%, reported http://oilnews.kz.--0--
