Communication and Mail Operators Earn 375 Million AZN in Q1
As of April 1 the communication services, including mail, had 372.8 million manats of total GDP revenues (+ 8.9% over the same period last year), the State Statistics Committee reported.
Traditionally, more than half (50.78%) of the services are rendered by three mobile operators, Azercell Telecom, Bakcell and Azerfon. In comparison with the first quarter of last year, their income in absolute terms decreased by 8.2% and they collectively earned 189.3 million AZN.
Specific weight of the private sector, including the mobile operators mentioned, in the total communication and mail system was 80.7%, with almost three-quarters (71.6%) of consumption by individuals, who paid out 266.9 million AZN. --17D-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
