Contracts signed for the preparation of master plans for five cities
The State Committee (SC) for Urban Planning and Architecture has signed contracts to develop master plans for five cities.
In SC they told Turan the master plans will be developed together with the detailed project planning of cities. Design companies have been selected by tender. The contract for the preparation of the general plan of the city Hajigabul has been signed with LLC Azikh, for Siyazan - with LLC Renaissance Studio, for Yardimli - with LLC En & En, for Zardab - with Arxin-M Ltd and for Zagatala - National Institute for General Architecture Projects (Azermemarlayihe).
In Azerbaijan, there are 77 cities, 11 of which are under occupation of Armenian armed forces. In 2009-2011, master plans for 12 cities were approved. In March of this year, work was completed on drawing up a master plan for the city of Sheki, which will soon be submitted to the Cabinet for approval. By the end of this year, they have scheduled completion of the general plans for the cities of Ganja, Sumgait and Khirdalan. -08B-

On July 1, new regulations governing taxi operations came into force in Azerbaijan. Under these rules, vehicles older than eight years will no longer receive a driver’s card. Additionally, all vehicles requiring a license card after this date must be either white or red if they were imported or manufactured after July 1, 2024.

On July 1, Azerbaijan’s long-awaited Competition Code came into force, marking an important milestone in the country's regulatory framework. Approved by President Ilham Aliyev on January 24, the comprehensive document consists of 12 sections and 84 articles. The Competition Code aims to unify various laws on antitrust regulation, combatting unfair competition, and overseeing natural monopolies into a single legal framework.

The 6th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria was held in Baku, highlighting the strengthening of bilateral economic relations. The co-chairmen, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov and Bulgaria’s Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov, emphasized the growing cooperation between the two countries.

The cost of passenger transportation in the subway and on intra-city and intra-district routes in Azerbaijan has increased. As of July 1, the fare in the subway has been raised by 0.1 manat to 0.5 manat. Similarly, the upper limit of tariffs for passenger transportation services on regular intra-city (intra-district) bus routes is now set at 0.5 manats, up from the previous 0.4 manats. The fare for one-way transportation on the Baku-Sumgayit bus route has also risen by 0.1 manat to 0.7 manat. For suburban bus routes, the upper limit of the passenger transportation tariff will be 0.37 manats per kilometer.*
