In 2014 Poland to begin commercial production of shale gas
The commercial production of shale gas will start in Poland in 2014, said Peter Voznyak, Deputy Minister of Ecology, at the Shale Gas Europe 2013 forum in Warsaw.
His visit to the object of San Leon firm, which has received good results of the trial drilling, is the reason for optimism.
“Considering the results I have seen, Poland will start the first commercial production next year,” Voznyak said and he did not rule out that another firm will start production the first.
About 50 exploration wells have been drilled in Poland by now. The experts believe that about 300 wells are needed to be drilled to evaluate the shale gas deposits. Lack of legislation regulating the shale gas exploration and extraction hinders the works. The disagreements between the Ministries of Ecology and Finance impede adoption of the law. The authorities hope to pass the law till the end of 2013.—0—
