In 2014 SOCAR exported 2,957,039 tons of Azerbaijani oil transported via the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline from the Supsa port.
SOCAR press office reported that in December 2014 SOCAR shipped 254,498 tons of Azerbaijani oil from the Supsa port.
In 2013 SOCAR exported 2,725,095 tons of oil from the Supsa port. Therefore, during 2014 export from the Supsa port increased by 8.5%.
Why did volume of export of Azerbaijani oil via the Georgina terminal increase? At the end of January 2014 BP-Azerbaijan put into operation a new production platform on the Chirag-Western Chirag field. All oil extracted on this field is exported to the world markets via the Baku-Supsa pipeline.
The Baku-Supsa oil pipeline was put into operation on April 17, 1999.
The length of the oil pipeline is 837 km and its diameter is 530 mm. The pipeline with the carrying capacity of 7.5 million tons of oil a year was built within the framework of the contract for development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) fields.—0—
