At the 10 April meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers the head of state said that from the beginning of the year 10 thousand new jobs open per month, 90% of which are permanent. However, the State Statistics Committee’s data of employment in the economy contradict these statements.
According to information made public by the SSC, on March 1 this year, the number of employees in the economy was 1 million 514.1 thousand people. This was 2 thousand people (0.02%) less than at the beginning of the year. In annual terms, the number of workers, who are paid wages, increased 20 thousand.
According to President Ilham Aliyev, opening jobs must match population growth. Independent experts have never agreed with the official data on the number of opened jobs in the country, which since October 2003 amount to more than 1.3 million. -0--
