Number of Vehicles in Baku Decreased 1.2%
For the first time since 2000 the total number of vehicles Baku began to decline. In 2015, with the overall growth in the number of vehicles in the country at 2.4%, in Baku the number of cars was 1.8% less than in 2014, the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
As of 1 January 2015, 728.7 thousand cars were registered in Baku. For every 100 households there were 52 private cars in Baku. In 2014 the figure was 114, in 2013 - 118. In total in Baku there are 586.1 thousand private cars, 14,000 less than in 2014.
The total number of cars in Baku, taking into account the fleet of public and private entities, amounted to 634.1 thousand by the beginning of 2016.
It is noteworthy that not only the number of cars, but also the number of trucks reduces in Baku. The number of trucks was 64,000 in 2014 and in 2015 this figure fell to 62.3 thousand.
Since 2013, the number of passenger buses in Baku is going to decline. Just last year, 234 buses were decommissioned. Over the past 4 years the government and private companies have purchased hundreds of new large buses that replaced buses for up to 15 passengers.
Experts note that the decline in the number of cars in Baku can be attributed to the outflow of citizens to the regions in response to the economic crisis. ------08D
