Over 10,000 Hectares of Hazelnut Orchards Planted in 2016
With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture 10,240 hectares of hazelnut orchards were planted in Azerbaijan this year.
Total in the coming years it is planned to increase the area under hazelnut trees up to 70 thousand ha. As of January 1, the area under hazelnuts in Azerbaijan amounted to 32.7 thousand ha, of which 24.3 thousand ha accounted for the Sheki-Zagatala economic region.
New gardens are located mainly in the Zagatala, Balakan and and Gusar regions. AZN 0.7 million has been allocated from the state budget for the purchase and distribution of hazelnut seedlings to farmers this year. ----- 08D
