Poultry Farms Improved Production Performance
In 2014, poultry farms produced 85.3 thousand tons of poultry meat in live weight, which is 16.3% more than in the previous year, according to the State Statistics Committee.
According to the National Society of Poultry Farmers (NSPF), last year poultry meat ready for sales amounted to 64.1 thousand tons, 9.1 thousand tons higher than in the previous year. For the year poultry farms produced more than 700 million eggs, and this was 25% more than in the previous year. Each hen laid an average of 227 eggs.
According to the Chairman of the Society, Aydin Veliyev, production growth is a direct result of huge government loan investments in the development of the poultry industry, as well as farms themselves. Over the past 4 years over AZN 100 million was invested in the construction and reconstruction of broiler and poultry farms. Just last year, poultry stock increased 41.1% to 11.6 million birds.
The country has at least 100 poultry farms, 33 of which were united in the ranks of NSPF. According to estimates of the society, the poultry meat production in live weight in Azerbaijan in 2014 was 135.8 thousand tons, including private farms. ----08D
