Rules Changed for Transport of Goods across Customs Border by Natural Persons
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted new rules on October 14 on the grace and simplified transportation by physical persons through the customs border of goods not intended for production or commercial purposes. Part of the document was published in print on October 27 and will enter into force one month after its publication. Previously, citizens could bring duty-free goods worth the equivalent of $ 1,000 (excluding goods for personal use) , but now this amount is increased to $ 1,500, in addition, each accompanied by a family member put an additional $ 500. In the framework of these can bring in no less than 2 units of the same or a similar product for personal use.
On the name of the individual Azerbaijan can send parcel post or goods in an amount not exceeding $ 1,000 in the 30-day interval. Prior to that, the figure was $ 200. Requirements for trafficking in motor fuel (in the volume of the tank capacity of its own), cigarettes (600 pieces) and alcoholic beverages (3 bottles) have not changed. Other than that you can bring drugs in the required amount for personal use, as well as food weighing up to 10 kg. One can also take caviar sturgeon weight not exceeding 125 grams.
Mandatory declaration system throughput through the "red channel" shall be:
Items that exceed the established norms;
Products with unaccompanied baggage sent by the carrier;
Motor vehicles;
Precious metals and stones above the equivalent of $ 1,500;
Currency and securities equivalent to more than $ 10,000, etc.
The Cabinet of Ministers has recommended the central bank to amend the regulations for import and export of currency values.
Customs payments from individuals produced by a bank , post office or bank cards.
The old rules operated since 2001. Since then, the purchasing power of the U.S. dollar in Azerbaijan fell. - 08D-
