SOCAR decides to start oil exploration outside of Azerbaijan
SOCAR Turkiye Enerji (SOCAR’s Turkish daughter company) has obtained licenses from the General Directorate for Oil Affairs of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources to search for oil on the territory of Turkey, reads web site of Turkish Resmi Gezete newspaper.
The decision of the Directorate was published in the newspaper on August 16, 2015.
According to the decision, SOCAR Turkiye Enerji has obtained four licenses for five years for the exploration works to look for oil in the eastern provinces of Gaziantep, Diyarbakir, Adiyaman, Kakhramanmarashe, Batman and Musher.
The company must submit the investment program of operations on the licensed sections and the guarantee of 2% of cost of the program within 30 days to the Directorate.
SOCAR is the owner of the bloc of shares (57.92%) of the Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim Petrokimya Holding through its daughter company SOCAR Turkey Enerji. The company has been also building Star oil refinery and Petlim container terminal in Turkey and is also involved in gas supplies to the local market of the country.—0—

BP, the operator of the Shah Deniz gas condensate field, announced on Sunday that production from the Shah Deniz Alpha platform resumed on the evening of January 18. This followed the complete resolution of a technical issue with the subsea condensate export pipeline between the Shah Deniz Alpha platform and the Sangachal terminal.

The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported that in 2024 investments in fixed assets reached 21,435.1 million manats, which is 0.7% less than in 2023. While overall figures edged lower, the sectoral breakdown reveals notable disparities between the oil and gas sphere and non-oil industries.

Azerbaijan’s industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs reported a modest 1.1% year-on-year increase in industrial production during 2024, reaching an output valued at 64.1 billion manat. The State Statistics Committee attributed the overall growth to a 0.5% expansion in the oil and gas sector, while non-oil and gas industries surged by 7.3%.
