SOCAR has big plans for development of deep gas beds on Bulla Deniz field
Until 2026 SOCAR plans to install five new offshore platforms on the offshore field Bulla Deniz, said SOCAR Senior Vice President.
“Currently the exploration well No 78 with the target depth of 5900 meters is being drilled from the new platform No 6 on the Bulla Deniz field. The project of the field development envisages installation of five new offshore platforms to drill 26 wells from 2016 till 2025,”he added.
The offshore field Bulla Deniz was discovered in 1973 and was put into operation in 1975. The field is being operated by Nariman Narimanov oil and gas production plant, which is owned by Azneft company.
On August 19 , 2013 the well No 90 on the Bulla Deniz field has ignited during drilling the exploration well on the depth of 5860 meters (gas fountain under high pressure). SOCR has made everything possible not to lose the exploration well. It has managed to do that with help of foreign specialists. The first has been fully extinguished and on October 25, 2013 the extracted gas was connected to the gas transportation system.
SOCAR’s geologists said later that several new beds have been discovered on the depth of about 6 meters, which contain up to 20 bcm of gas.—0—
