State Grain Fund Extends Local Wheat Purchase
The State Agency of Material Reserves of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has announced the extension of the local wheat procurement for the needs of the State Grain Fund until November 1.
The report also noted that the purchase price of grain also increased from 250 to 270 manats per 1 ton. The beginning of the purchase was announced on June 21.
The press service of the Emergencies Ministry told Turan they have no information on the volume of grain purchased from local farmers to date. ‘The procurement campaign report will be given at the expiration of the period allotted for the supply of local grain,’ the Ministry spokesman Ogtay Bayramov said.
Note that the reserves of the State Grain Fund are formed exclusively by imported wheat. The Ministry claimed that the local wheat does not meet the quality parameters established by the Cabinet of Ministers on 7 July 2009. In 2015, the government's decision required that the state grain reserves should increase to 750,000 tons.
According to the information received by Turan from local farmers, food wheat is sold to elevators at 250-260 manats per ton, and seed wheat is sold at 350 manats. -----08B
