Sugar Production Continues Falling
In the first quarter of the year the production of sugar cubes and granulated sugar reached 103.6 thousand tons (minus 6.4% in comparison with indicators by April 1 last year), the State Statistics Committee said. The trend towards reduction began in 2012 and in 2013 the area under cultivation of beet reduced to the current 5.5 thousand ha.
According to official figures, the production of margarine also reduced, making 8.11 thousand tons (minus 11.4%) by April 1.
All other positions were in the plus. Thus, the production of bread and bakery products was 188.7 thousand tons (+ 1.2%), meat (including poultry) - 70.9 thousand tons (+ 1.9%), sausage - 531.5 tons (+ 21.4%) and milk - 215.9 thousand tons (+ 3.3%).
Production of cream and sour cream reached 1 thousand 174.9 tons (+ 1%), cheese and cottage cheese - 12.45 thousand tons (+ 4.8%), butter - 5.82 thousand tons (+5.8 %), jam and marmalade – 8,486.9 tons (+ 1.3%), purified liquid vegetable oil – 16,853.3 tons (+ 97.4%).
Overall, in the first quarter an increase of food production (+ 3.5%) was recorded. --17D-
