"The merit» of Agricultural & Industrial Complex in lower prices for products
In July in the capital and other major cities of the country, food prices compared to June fell by an average of 10%, which is "merit" of agriculture. Most cheaper were tomatoes, decreasing 60% to 60 kopecks per kilo, but last year at this time they cost 40-50 kopecks. So if you look closely, cheapness is questionable. Other agricultural products are from the same category. Greens, which did not exceed 10 kopecks per bunch in the spring and summer of 2013, is from 15 to 20 kopecks, but compared to June it fell by a quarter. The price of onions has not changed during the month, but in comparison to last year it has doubled.
Homemade dairy prices have not changed for a few years (since 2008).
Within a month, the price of mutton increased (+5.5%), butter (1.5%) and corn oil (0.5%). At the same time due to the season prices for agricultural products fell on average by 10%.
Experts and housewives say that over the past three years, compared with previous years, the prices of agricultural products have increased significantly, although the performance is not decreased. "This year's performance is good enough. The problem is that every year the process of delivering products to the markets gets more expensive, which affects the marketing of agricultural products. The example is the December decision of the Tariff Council that will raise prices on gasoline and diesel fuel," complains one of the farmers in "the 8th Kilometer" market
In addition, this segment is striking 2-3-fold difference in prices between local and imported goods. I think, at a cost of polluting the local product will soon begin to catch up with foreign counterparts.
In the coming days, prices will remain stable.

Azerbaijan is poised to increase wheat imports for the 2024-2025 season following a significant drop in domestic wheat production this year. According to data from the State Statistics Committee, the country harvested 1.68 million tons of wheat in 2024, marking an 8.1% decline from the previous year. This downturn in output, combined with rising import volumes in recent months, indicates that Azerbaijan may lean more heavily on foreign suppliers to meet its wheat needs.
