The volume of credit card transactions for the year grew by almost 55%
BAKU/19.12.13/TURAN : Number of outstanding active cards of Azerbaijani banks expanded in October 2013 at 16,000 units, up to 5,363 thousand units . Annual growth was 8%.
In January-October cardholders carried 54,604,000 transactions totaling 8,224 million manat. With the growth of the total number of transactions by 17.6 % and volume by 15.3 % compared with the corresponding period in 2012 , the number of credit card transactions increased by 2.4 times to 7.848 million , and their turnover - 54.7% up to 1,349 mln manats.
The main part of card transactions in the period this year still fell on ATMs - 42,316 thousand transactions in the amount of 6,863 million manat. Of these, 98.8 % were for operations related to the withdrawal of cash.
Service of the cards is produced by 2,397 ATMs and 35,039 POS terminals. The number iof ATMs increased by 7.7 %, while the number of POS cards decreased by 4.4%.
As of November 1, 2013 in Baku were established 1,351 ATMs and 30,897 POS-terminals. In service facilities operated 33,635 POS-terminals , including in Baku - 30,061 POS-terminals. - 15B-
