There are still ecological problems of Kura and Araz
The Department of the Ministry of Environment and the National Resources, published the results of monitoring of the state of pollution of border rivers Kura and Araz rivers and their tributaries. This is due to the fact that untreated household waste and industrial waste waters from Georgia and Armenia directly flock to the river. The norm of concentration of specific contaminants, particularly phenol I in the Shikhli exceeded by 3.5 times, in Agstafachay - by 3.7 times, in the reservoir Agstafachay – by 3.2 times. According to the results of monitoring conducted in the second decade of March, phenols exceeded the norm in the Araz River in Horadiz area – by 3.6 times, Shahsevan - by 3.4 times, Bahramtapa – by 3.3 times.
