Chief of the Arms and Technology Department of the Defence Ministry is dismissed
The Head of Arms and Technology Department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan Yagub Ahadov dismissed. Defense Ministry's press service confirmed the information , and said that the reason for dismissal were errors in the work; it is nor reported what shortcomings.
In turn, the site AzPolitika.info claims that Ahadov was dismissed after a visit of the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin to Baku on March 3, and a lawsuit was filed against him. The publication suggests that between these events are connected, and the Colonel was dismissed because of arms contracts. So, the talk may be about the involvement of Ahadov to some "secret contract amuonting $3.5 million."
Turan Agency was unable to get a comment in the Military Prosecutor's Office whether the case against Ahadov will be filed or not.
Rogozin arrived in Baku together with the leaders of "Rosoboronexport" and the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. The Russian press then wrote that the reason for the visit was refusal of Baku to pay for the contracts for delivered weapons.
However, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated soon that the problem as not a paymnt, but substandard goods wre delivered to Baku. "The question is the necessity to correct the technical parameters of a few particular types of weapons," said Mammadyarov. -03D-
