Tickets to Mashad Available, but No Passengers
From December 29, high-speed train Nakhchivan-Mashhad-Nakhchivan will be operational. To carry out transportation of passengers the train will run twice a week - on Thursday and Sunday. This information was distributed by the PR department of CJSC Azerbaijani Railways.
The train of three cars and 108 passenger beds will pass through Nakhchivan, Julfa, Tabriz, Tehran and Mashhad. Cost of the ticket one way is 40 Swiss francs CHF (1 CHF – 1.713 AZN). Ticket sales at the railway stations Nakhchivan and Julfa started from December 24, the sale of tickets is carried out in cash, and the organization of electronic tickets has not yet been completed.
The head of the passenger and cargo transportation management of the LLC Nakhchivan Railways Mubariz Allahverdiyev told Turan that, according to the information on December 27, no one applied for tickets.
“I cannot say anything in connection with the need for tickets on this route, as we have not yet sold the tickets. However, in any case, the train will leave on December 29.”
Inside Nakhchivan there are two trains (951/952 Ordubad-Sharur (passenger/cargo) and 953/954 Sharur-Julfa (passenger train). In both directions there are 2 moving trains, which include 2 cars, and for the summer period another 4 cars are provided. Along with the residents of Nakhchivan, these cars will serve for the military.
Ticket prices are regulated by the Tariff Council, but the Council's decisions (http://www.tariffcouncil.gov.az/?/az/resolution/view/87) contain no information about this.
In Mashhad the train will arrive in 29.5-30 hours. On the train, passengers will be served tea for a fee.
International passenger traffic between the NAR and Iran are carried out on the basis of the Framework Agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and Iran signed in Tehran on February 23, 2016. - 08B--
