Trains Return to Steel Highways of Absheron
At the time of the I European games (June 12-28) suburban electric trains will be launched between Baku Railway Station and the subway station Koroglu. The head of CJSC Azerbaijani Railways Javid Gurbanov told the media.
In addition to the subway and special bus lines, trains will be another means of transport for the delivery of passengers to the Olympic Stadium, the Athletes Village and the National Gymnastics Arena.
Note that a railway station has been opened near the metro station Koroglu. The station called Settlement Eighth Kilometer lost its significance as a traffic junction, where five years ago the movement of trains on the Circle Line on the Apsheron Peninsula was stopped and many suburban train routes were canceled.
Gurbanov also announced plans to restore the movement of trains to the suburban villages by the project Greater Baku Regional Development (from the Alat settlement in the south to Sumgait in the north).
So, in June, it is expected to complete the reconstruction of the Baku – Khirdalan – Sumgait route, so the speed of trains on this route will be only 40 minutes from the capital city to Sumgait. Moreover, the line will run trains purchased in Switzerland and equipped with air conditioning and WiFi Internet.
In addition, after reconstruction of the Baku – Boyuk Kesik route in 1 or 1.5 years the maximum speed of trains on this line will increase to about 120 km / h (currently 60-70 km / h). This will reduce the time of the train trips between Baku and Ganja (400 km) to 5 hours. -06D
