Tukey started importing more gas from Azerbaijan
From January to February 2016 Turkey imported 1,152,095 cub.m. of natural gas from Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani gas import increased by 39.48 mcm against the same period last year, reads the report placed on the web site of the Turkey’s Department for Energy Market Regulation (EPDK, www.epdk.gov.tr).
In January and February 2016 594.46 and 558.49 mcm of gas was exported from Azerbaijan to Turkey. In February Azerbaijani gas deliveries increased by 4.17% against the same period last month.
In January 2015 Turkey imported from Azerbaijan 577.35 mcm of gas and in February – 536.11 mcm.
According to EPDK, in 2015 Azerbaijan delivered 6.17 bcm of natural gas to Turkey against 6.07 bcm delivered in 2014. The report reads that in 2013 Azerbaijani gas import totaled 4.25 bcm.
In February 2016 Azerbaijan’s share in total gas import to Turkey increased up to 14.1% against 11% in January 2016.
* Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan via the Southern Caucasian gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). Azerbaijani gas is exported to Turkey from the Shah Deniz field since July 3, 2017 as a part of the Stage 1 project.—0-

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. According to operational data from the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, in January 2025, the country produced 2.3 million tons of oil, including condensate, and 3.9 billion cubic meters of gas.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has opened a representative office in Albania and is set to launch a specific project this year, the Albanian company "Albgaz" announced.

"Azerbaijan is currently among 54 middle-income countries," said Shahmar Movsumov, head of the Economic Affairs and Innovative Development Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, during the presentation of the World Bank’s World Development Report 2024 in Baku on February 10.
