Tbilisi / 02.07.15 / Turan-BSPRESS: Turkmenistan shows high interest in energy transit through Georgia to Europe, said Advisor to the President for Economic Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Abashishvili, commenting on the results of the visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The Turkmen leader arrived in Georgia on a two-day state visit on Thursday and held a number of meetings and negotiations with the president and prime minister of the country.
"This is a greater increase in Georgia's role in the transport transit of Turkmen energy resources to Europe. In this direction, there are works, and it is clear that it is impossible to imagine all this without Georgia," said Abashishvili to reporters.
During the meeting, the Georgian and Turkmen parties confirmed their interest in the preparation of an agreement initiated by Afghanistan. The agreement covers the development of cooperation in transit, transport and trade areas between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
