Ukraine imported 2.5 billion cub.m. of gas from Europe
During 11 months, 2013 Ukraine imported from Europe about 2.5 billion cub.m. of gas, Ukrainian Unian news agency quoted Edward Stavizkii, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, as saying in his interview to local media.
In November 2013 gas import to Ukraine via Poland increased by 6.5 times against October 2013 – from 14,000,000 up to 91,000,000 cub.m., while deliveries to Hungary dropped as twice – from 222,100,000 to 134,021,000 cub.m.
Ukraine started gas import from Poland from November 1, 2012, from Germany – since early 2012 and from Hungary – since April 1, 2013. The main gas importers from Europe are Ukraine Neftegas company (RWE buys gas), Vetek group owned by Sergei Kucherenko and DTEK holding owned by Rinat Ahmetov.
Ukraine continues talks with several European countries, including Romania, Slovakia and etc. on the reverse gas deliveries. Stavizkii said that Slovakia and Ukraine will sign the agreement on the reverse deliveries of over 10 billion cub.m. of gas to Ukraine this week.
Minister also said that this year Ukraine bought gas in Europe at the price “over $100 less, than Russian one” and said “Russian gas price of $280 per 1000 cub.m. is fair and corresponds to the average annual price at the European markets, not considering costs for its transportation,” reported RBC.—0-
