Italy, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania increased gas imports from Azerbaijan by 8.9% in the first half of 2023
Baku/18.08.23//Turan: In the first half of 2023, the countries of the European Union (EU) - Italy, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania increased gas imports from Azerbaijan by 8.9% compared to the same period last year, to 241,875 thousand terajoules.
The cost of gas imported from Azerbaijan to the EU countries during the reporting period amounted to 3.512 billion euros (a decline of 37.9% compared to January-June 2022), the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat.)
In June, the EU countries reduced gas imports from Azerbaijan by 0.1% year-on-year, to 40,154 thousand TJ, having allocated 348.24 million euros for these purposes (a decline of 64.2%).
In 2022, EU countries imported natural gas from Azerbaijan for 15.599 billion euros (an increase of 4 times over the year), the Eurostat reported. –0-

The total volume of Azerbaijani gas transported via the TANAP pipeline to Türkiye and Europe reached 75 bcm. "To date, the total volume of gas transported through TANAP – a key link in the Southern Gas Corridor – since the start of supplies has amounted to 75 bcm," TANAP A.Ş. reported yesterday.

Azerbaijan and Tatarstan held talks on energy cooperation. According to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, the discussions took place during a meeting between Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation headed by Tatarstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Korobchenko.

Azerbaijan has significant potential in renewable energy and continues to invest in this area, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Committee on Natural Resources, Energy, and Ecology, Sadig Gurbanov, stated yesterday at the first plenary session of the spring session of parliament. According to him, the technical potential for renewable energy is estimated at 135 GW on land and 150 GW at sea.
