UNİAN: As a result of a helicopter crash in Brovary, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was killed.
"This morning, on January 18, a helicopter of the State Emergency Service crashed in Brovary. As a result of the plane crash, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was killed: the minister, the first deputy minister and the Secretary of State," said the head of the National Police Igor Klimenko.
According to Klimenko, it is now known about 18 dead, 3 of them children. 26 people were injured, including 12 children.He clarified that 9 of the dead were on board the helicopter. The helicopter crashed into a residential area.
According to media reports, Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky, as well as his first deputy Yevgeny Enin and Secretary of State Yuri Lubkovich were on board.
As the speaker of the Air Force Command Yuriy Ignat said on the telethon, the helicopter that fell in Brovary, Kiev region, performed the tasks of the State Emergency Service.
"Unfortunately, this happened to the helicopter of the State Emergency Service, which performed its tasks and flew. There are a certain number of such helicopters in Ukraine now, performing tasks for the defense of the country," Ignat said and noted that details should be expected from the State Emergency Service.
