Politics, which transferred to the presidential rule In Turkey on July 9, 2018, is divided into a union of 2 poles: the government is represented by the People’s Alliance and the opposition by the Nation Alliance. (Devlet Bahçeli calls it the "Contempt Alliance" in the morning and invites the leader of the second-ranked party to the People’s Alliance in the evening. That is, it should not be thought that only Fazail Aghamali violates political criteria and principles, it would be an injustice.)
The Democratic Party, which won the right to be represented in parliament from the opposition bloc with one MP, decided to go to the next election independently.
Wherever there is a democratic policy, it is normal for parties to form and abolish alliances. We are not looking at this from this point of view, but to show the anatomy of the alliances in the presidential system. Because in presidential systems that have no responsibility to the parliament, the targets of political alliances are reduced, the spheres of maneuver are narrowed, the pole of government is trying to divide the other side by leaving the country's affairs aside to prolong its life, and the other side (the opposition) is trying to expand the ranks of the alliance in order not to be shaken by the attacks and to gather new strength as it moves towards the goal.
Party leaders become a "screw and wheel" who think of nothing but personal interests as the relative representation of the justice of politics disappears where parliament is not important. Politics ceases to be a means of serving the people and society and becomes an "instrument" of material passions.
In Turkey, the transition to presidential rule meant the design of the governing system as well as the political system on two main parties. The start of the process was announced by MHP leader Bahçeli, who said, "The necessary steps should be taken to begin the current transition to presidential rule," as soon as the chairman of the Kurdish-leaning party was arrested in October 2016. In a referendum on April 16, 2017, to amend the constitution, political parties trained to form an alliance on two opposite poles.
In the June 24, 2018, presidential and parliamentary elections, they tried to take full advantage of the opportunities brought by the alliances.
In the March 31, 2019, municipal elections, the alliance of the opposition saw the fruits of this. When repeated municipal elections in Istanbul on June 23 resulted in the overwhelming victory of the opposition, Nation Alliance, over the ruling alliance, which mobilized all its resources, although the ruling alliance consolidated its power around the central government, two new political parties emerged from the 18-year ruling party. The opposition alliance, which succeeded in increasing its power through the activities of municipalities, began to suppress the government in this way by introducing the demand for "early elections on the condition of a return to the parliamentary system."
When former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s Future Party and Ali Babacan's DEVA (Democracy and Progress Party), which broke away from the AKP, also brought the "parliamentary system" to the fore, although the ruling alliance saw that there was no other way to protect the existing system than supporting the citizens of Kurdish origin and began to train on that field, it has not yet achieved real results. It is not difficult to predict that the position of those who support the return to the parliamentary system will strengthen if the ruling alliance fails to open a "new field" to get the support of citizens of Kurdish origin.
In this case, the situation arises from the nature of multi-party politics, in which even the smallest political structures will expand the sphere of maneuver to some extent. In other words, at the current stage of Turkish politics and public administration, we see that the two-party system is not accepted by society. Seeing this, the Democratic Party in the opposition alliance took a decisive step. Will it be possible for the Great Unity Party in the ruling alliance to see it as well? In fact, it is not very important for society, and the election will continue to reflect the results of the political process.
In other words, we want to say that Turkish society prefers to return to the multi-party system, which has been in place since 1946 and ignores the absurdity of "opposition parties supporting the government" in politics.
That is, unfortunately, it will not be possible for Mustafa Destici to be Turkey’s Mirmahmud.
