Kyrgyzstan threatens to sentence its citizens in Russia for participating in war against Ukraine
pravda: The embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia reminded its fellow citizens living in Russia of criminal sanctions for participation in military operations.
"The Kyrgyzstan Embassy in Russia warns citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who are temporarily residing in the Russian Federation against participating in armed conflicts or military operations on the territory of foreign states, since doing so is subject to criminal sanctions.
If citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic receive a call to participate in any military operation, the embassy asks them to immediately contact the diplomatic mission of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation."
The embassy published its statement in response to the Russian Federation simplifying the procedure for foreigners to obtain Russian citizenship if they have signed a contract for service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
According to the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan, any Kyrgyz citizen who commits the above-mentioned actions faces a penalty of up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
"The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation warns compatriots against creating volunteer battalions and/or participating in military operations on the territory of foreign states, actions that are subject to criminal sanctions."
Citizens of Uzbekistan who decide to engage in "mercenary activities" face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
In Kazakhstan, there are also criminal sanctions for participation by citizens of that country in military operations on the territory of foreign states.
Article 172 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Intentional illegal participation by a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan in armed conflict or military actions in the territory of a foreign state in the absence of signs of mercenary activity") provides for criminal sanctions in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 9 years.
