Part of the Baku-Supsa pipeline turns to be in South Ossetia
Russia provoked Georgia by moving the pointers on the border of South Ossetia by 300 meters, said the Georgian Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli. According to her, part of the Baku-Supsa pipeline through which an international consortium transports the Azerbaijani oil, and 10 hectares of arable land turned to be in the occupied territory.
Khidasheli commented on the situation with the change of the boundaries of non-recognized South Ossetia. She believes that by setting a pointer to the border of South Ossetia, Moscow draws Georgia in the conflict, according to RBC.
Khidasheli stated that Russia "constantly makes provocation against Georgia," according to “Georgia-Online.” "I think that setting banner here or somewhere else does not have political and strategic importance for Russia, which is experiencing our patience and wants to draw us into the conflict," said the Defense Minister .
"I do not think that conventionally made in the Tskhinvali region would be of strategic value for Russia. Every day Russian experiences our patience state, and its goal is to bring Georgia to the armed conflict, but the current leadership of our state will not allow it, " Khidasheli said (quoted by Interfax.)
Earlier this week, on July 15, the Georgian Foreign Ministry sent a protest note to Russia due to unilateral actions of the South Ossetian side on change the borders of the non-recognized republic. According to the Georgian side, the South Ossetian border signs were installed on July 10 near the village of Tsitelubani (in Georgia) and Orchosani (in South Ossetia.)
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin called the "hype" about border changing a "far-fetched and propaganda", RBC reports. The Russian side stressed that any claims about the border should be discussed with South Ossetia. "Tbilisi is well aware that there is not any “border change", and never will be. The Georgian side should make a decision - whether it intends to follow the logic of a positive improvement of relations with Russia, or will continue to spread provocative inventions," reads the report of the Russian Foreign Ministry.—0—
