A citizen of Iran arrested in Iran Azerbaijan is an employee of Security Service
The Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mohsen Pakayin, in an interview with Iranian portal "arannews" expressed his displeasure over the arrest of Iranian citizen, Michael Kazymi, in Azerbaijan.
According to the ambassador, as a member of Security Service of the Trade Mission in Ardebil province of Iran, Kazymi a few months ago was arrested on the border of the two countries, in Bilasuvar.
Accompanying the Iranian delegation, Kazymi handed weapon, but "forgot" to give bullets.
According to the Ambassador, the Azerbaijani border guards promised to release Kazymi, but they did not do it, and the Iranian citizen, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. The Ambassador expressed his hope that the Court of Appeal will release Kazymi.
However, he stressed that the arrest of the Azerbaijanis Khalid Khalida, and her driver, Shamhal Huseynov, in Iran had nothing to do with the case of Kazymi.
Pakayin also touched on not issuing visa to the deputy head of the Baku representative of the supreme religious leader of Iran, Khamenei hodzhatulislamu Ardebili. The ambassador said that Iran continues discussions on this issue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Earlier, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Araghchi, said that Ardebili returned to Iran after expiry of his visa, which was not prolonged.—05D06--
